CJC Issue (kuno) Part 1

Carlo J. Caparas (National Artist/ Director) can represent the title bestowed by the President of the Republic because his works and his image are familiar to the Filipino masses. They patronize him now and then. His appeal to the masses is overwhelming, unlike some of our National Artist, unknown to the people because they only belong to a group of artists or confined to a university. We can call them sectoral artists or elitist artists not National Artist.

  1. Don't make this a social class issue. Because it isn't. Look at the rules and regulations of NCCA that covers the National Artist Award. THAT is the only criteria that we are looking at. If you look at it, and understand it, CJC is NOT qualified. There's no wiggle room here. The criteria is clear.

By accepting the title of National Artist for Visual Arts, CJC has taken the credit of the work of Steve Gan, Nestor Malgapo, Karl Comendador, Mar Santana, and all the artists, the real visual artists who worked on these stories. Do you understand that? CJC has taken what belongs to them and took it for himself. Many of these artists are impoverished and are struggling to survive.

While CJC is living comfortably in Ayala Alabang. Who is being elitist here?

    Ayala Alabang Village?

a comics story WRITER is not a comics ILLUSTRATOR.
an ILLUSTRATOR is a VISUAL ARTIST.
CJC is a comics story WRITER.

therefore, CJC is not a comics ILLUSTRATOR.
and, CJC is not a VISUAL ARTIST.

  5. CJC is also a VISUAL ARTIST kahit na hindi siya mismo ang nag-drawing sa ilang sikat na comics niya. With his guidance sa illustrator mas nagiging maganda yung kinalalabasan nung comics. Gets?!

  6. Agree with rixmaestro... CJC is NOT A VISUAL ARTIST. CJC DID NOT DRAW his novels so WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT HE IS THE VISUAL ARTIST. The award is for A VISUAL ARTIST. Please get your facts straight.
